The next Black River Area Community Coalition meeting is Monday Oct 19 from 5:00 to 6:30
with dinner provided courtesy of the VT Dept of Health. (Thanks to Sarah!). BRACC will
meet in the community room at Fletcher Memorial Library.
BRACC will be assessing the underage drug and alcohol use by youth in our communities
to make sure they are addressing the most pressing needs. The BRACC Drug Free Communities
Grant requires BRACC to update their assessment periodically to ensure that their work is
still addressing the highest needs in the community. BRACC is encouraging parents, students,
education professionals, business people, health service providers and retailers to attend.
In short, if you are interested in the issues facing our youth ( and would like a great
dinner free), please join BRACC. Note that the meeting will be Monday so we do not conflict
with the Fall concert on Tuesday. This is your chance to establish BRACC priorities.

This survey about teen risky behaviors was done by Haley Paris,
a graduate of Castleton State College who has been compiling survey data
for the past three years. BRACC funded the project and this information was
discussed at the last BRACC meeting on May 19, 2009. Parent and student data are
included and Haley has analyzed the data to observe trends and new information.
