Summer Educational Opportunities

Vermont Virtual Learning Cooperative will be offering a Summer Session in addition to Summer Learning Recovery! We will be offering about a half dozen .5 credit courses this summer to pilot a summer session per the request of many counselors, parents, and students.

To clarify, these courses will NOT require the course have been taken, but credit not received as is the case with Summer Learning Recovery. I will be creating more detailed information in the coming days, but wanted to get this announcement out there in the meantime. Summer Session in a nutshell:
• Seven (7) Week Session beginning end of June
• .5 credit courses - 1 hour per day, 5 days per week commitment
• Courses to include, but not limited to:
o Music Composition
o Personal Fitness
o Digital Photography with Gimp
o SAT Prep
o Film Studies
• $400 per enrollment, payment can be by parent/student, VSAC or school sponsored. No set-up fee for partner schools

Summer college opportunities for High School students at CCV

Intro to College Studies (ICS) is a free CCV class that helps you sharpen your skills and prepare for college. It meets once-a-week for 13 weeks and is offered at all CCV locations in Vermont and at other Vermont state colleges.

Summer School Classes Available Online with Virtual High School

Virtual High School's Summer School courses are great for students who
  • need to make up credits to graduate on schedule
  • have other commitments and need flexible scheduling
  • want to try an online course while their schedule is less demanding, or
  • are looking to stay academically engaged during the summer months

    Students can take Virtual High School's Summer School courses any time, any place, allowing for greater flexibility in their summer plans.

    VTVLC Announces Summer 2011 Learning Recovery Program.

           VTVLC will be offering an online, six week Learning-Recovery program that begins on July 5, 2011. This program allows students to pretest and identify specific content areas within the course to complete with the support of the teacher. All courses will be offered online and do not require the student to attend class in person.

    Summer at UVM for High School Students

    During the summer, high school students can take courses at UVM for college credit. Many entry-level courses are appropriate for high school students and the small class sizes are perfect for interacting with faculty. Vermont high schools students are eligible for one course tuition free through Next Generation Funds through the State of Vermont (Dual Enrollment).

    Natural Resources Management Academy

    Are you a high-school student interested in the environment and ready to explore, in depth, your passion for Vermont's natural resources? If you answered yes to this question, then you should attend the 4th annual Natural Resources Management Academy. Come ready to explore natural resources management, and share a weekend with other high school students from around Vermont that have the same interests.
