2011 Counseling Awards

The 2011 Norwich University's Mathematics and Sciences Scholarship award is in recognition of academic performance and interest in pursuing education in the field of mathematics and science. This award and $12,000 scholarship to Norwich University is presented to two juniors: Alyssa Collins and Jesse Gillette

The Sage Colleges is pleased to present the 2011 Student Sage Award and scholarship to two of Black River High School's outstanding juniors. The recipients embody the Sage motto of “To Be, To know, To Do” through their achievements and involvement, and in doing so, brings well-earned recognition to the learning community here at Black River. The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has awarded one of our students with the Rensselaer Medal Award for outstanding academic achievement in the study of mathematics and science. This award goes to: Alyssa Collins

The Saint Michaels College Book Award for Scholarship and Service recognizes outstanding students who demonstrate a commitment to volunteerism and leadership in their community service endeavors. Today, the Book Award represents just one way in which Saint Michaels fulfills its mission to better the human condition by honoring those who demonstrate the true spirit of volunteerism.

The Book Award recipients must be inductees of the National Honor Society. In addition, the students must demonstrate a sustained and sincere commitment to community service activities through their high school or organizations within the local community. Preference is given to students who have taken on leadership roles within their community service endeavors.

Wellesley College offers a book award to a girl in the spring of their Junior year who has an outstanding academic record and has also made significant extracurricular contributions to her high school and/or community. This years award goes to: Dakotah Chambers

The University of Rochester has awarded a junior with the Xerox Award for Innovation and Information Technology in recognition of outstanding achievement in the pursuit of innovative approaches and an appreciation for the possibilities of technology. This award is given to: Noah Schmidt

The Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award is in recognition of outstanding commitment to social justice and dedication to continuing their unfinished life's work. This award is given to: Lucey Gagner

The George Eastman Young Leaders Award is in recognition of outstanding academic achievement and leadership. The University of Rochester is proud to give this award to: Newton Rose

Middlebury College gives an award to a top member of the junior class who meets the following criteria: “An exceptional student who has shown remarkable commitment to or achievement in environmental studies.” This book award is given to: Jesse Gillette

St. Lawrence Book Award honors high school juniors who have distinguished themselves in their communities by their significant commitment to community service. This years recipient is: Newton Rose The Governor's Institutes of Vermont enriches the lives of motivated Vermont high school students through intensive educational experiences on Vermont college campuses. These summer programs emphasize experiential learning and subsequent community involvement. This year we have two students who . Phoebe Tucker will be attending.
