All girls who apply and are accepted into the Engineering, Mathematics
or Information Technology Institutes will automatically receive an Incentive
Award in the amount of 50% of the tuition regardless of their financial
status.

Boston University is offering an intensive
experience in creative mathematical exploration for high school students June 27th to August 7th.
This program
is called PROMYS (Program in Mathematics for Young Scientists). This six week residential program is sponsored
by the Mathematics department at Boston University. The cost of attendance is $2700, and financial aid is available.

Middle School After School Programs at the
River Valley Technical Center

Web Site Design: Design your own website! This 4 week session will take you through the
process of website design. At the end of the series you will have a personal website to share!
Firefighting and EMT intro: This is a 4 week session that will give students the opportunity
for some hands on experience with firefighting and EMT training! The sessions will end
with a trip to the fire station in Springfield.
Horticulture Wreaths and Centerpieces: Come in December and make holiday arrangements
in the horticulture department! In these two hands on sessions students will have in
introduction to the green house/florist industry. Students will cut their own balsam branches
and use natural materials to create a wreath and a centerpiece that they can take home with
them. This is offered 12/8 and 12/15.
Welding with Mr. Fuller: In this three week session students will create a picture on a
computer and have it cut out using an automated plasma cutting machine. The project will be
finished using hand tools and coated with lacquer. A demonstration of TIG or MIG welding will
also be included. Requirement: Student must wear long cotton pants (dungarees or similar),
long sleeved shirt, and hiking/work boots (NOT sneakers). This is offered 12/1, 12/8 and 12/15.
