Students wishing to come to the library from a class or their study hall must bring a pass from their teacher.

Location of Materials  
  • Fiction books are shelved alphabetically by author along the wall by the library entrance and below the current periodicals.
  • Nonfiction books are located on the west side of the room.
  • Reference books are in the low stacks near the nonfiction.
  • Videos are on the bottom shelf below the fiction.
  • Books on tape are on the top shelf above the fiction.
  • Vermont collection is on the west side of the room in the right hand corner.

    Borrowing and using materials
  • Books are checked out for a two-week loan period.

  • The library does not charge fines for overdue books but students are encouraged to consider their peers & return books on time.

  • Books may be renewed as long as they have not been requested by another student.

  • Videotapes may be checked out for one day only.

  • Reference books are for in-library use only.    A copy machine is available.
  • Periodicals. Current issues of magazines are on display in the racks and are noncirculating.
  • Older issues of magazines may be borrowed for a two-week period.

  • Newspaper. The Rutland Herald  is for in library reading.

  • The library has computers accessible to students.

  • Computers are to be used for educational purposes

  • No playing of games

    Library Behavior
  • Students using the library are expected to be engaged in individual study, homework, or recreational reading.
  • Students who insist upon loud talking & socializing will return to study hall or class, lose library privileges, or visit the principal (disciplinary procedures as outlined in the student handbook will be followed.)
  • Food or drink of any kind are not permitted in the library.
